The messaging system in SentLive allows users to chat one to one, or with several users on one chat, and can be accessed in a couple of ways; either through the Chats section on your Profile page, or a chat icon in the bottom right of every page. The system is similar to other messaging apps, although at present it is text chat and file sending only, without a video or audio call option. System notifications are also delivered via the chat system.
Chat Notifications #
When new chats arrive while you are viewing the site, you are notified about them with a chime sound (some iOS devices this is only when you are on the chat thread itself), and a little red number on the chat icon; if you have allowed push notifications you will be notified on your device of a new message; however system notifications appear in your Inbox without any device notification.
Chat Settings #
To access the chat settings, go to your Inbox (within your Profile) and then click the little cog icon at the bottom left of the white box. You can choose who can start conversations with you, either Friends or Nobody, whether you want the chime sound when new chats arrive, and finally there is a list of blocked users, if you have blocked anyone. On smaller screens you can also access the chat settings at the top of the chats list that opens when you click the chat button. If you do not want to receive push notifications for private messages, there is a separate setting for this in the Settings section of your Profile.
Sending and Reading Chats #
To compose a new chat, either click on the icon (found at the top left of the Inbox in your profile), or ‘Start a Chat’ wherever you see it, and then select the member you want to message. To continue or read an existing chat, simply click on the chat or the member’s name in the chat boxes.
Deleting and ‘Favouriting’ Chats #
To delete a chat, there are two methods; either click the small grey ‘x’ at the top right of each chat in the list, or open the chat and click the three vertical dots at the top of the chat, then select ‘Delete conversation’ – there are several other options which should be self explanatory as well. You can mark any chat as a favourite by clicking or tapping the star next to any individual comment within a thread.
