The whole concept of SentLive revolves around the peace of mind achieved with the regular reassurance from your connections that they are OK by the sending of a CALM. And the added knowledge that when assistance is needed, both they and you can send a Signal. The additional features that also allow the setting and sending of one off or scheduled checks to any connection on the site, or ‘prompted reassurance’ as we like to call it, could potentially prevent someone getting into a difficult or dangerous situation before it happens, and get assistance if such a situation might occur, or is already unfolding. It is for the connected people to determine what this might be and how they will use the system, and will be different for everyone, governed by things like age, gender, and a variety of other circumstances; some people might only use Sentlive so that a regular journey, like an adult’s commute to work or a child’s journey to/from school, is tracked to completion; others might use it to ensure their independent aged relatives are happily living their lives (and vice versa). There are multiple applications.
The Concept In Practice #
The overriding goal was to achieve the concept in a practical way that anyone of any age would be able to use, which meant that it had to be as simple as possible, and that is how the Crew Button was born, and adapted to the Loop and Stints buttons. One click/tap for CALM, and hold for Signal, as simple as that. There are obviously visual aids to enhance this, with the button changing colour (Green = CALM, Red = Signal), and the relevant words showing as well, plus the audio component as well, so there is a different sound depending on the action taken, which can be turned off if preferred.
