A Brief Explanation #
Checks and Alerts are the heartbeat of Sentlive, and the use of them with your Crew or Loops is what will define your experience using our system. Our aim is to provide every member with the ability to have a regular, reassuring rhythm of CALM alerts from and to their chosen connections, safe in the knowledge that if that rhythm gets broken by a Signal for assistance, someone can respond.
Checks #
Checks can be set for yourself or for others you are connected to; they can be an Instant one off check, or a scheduled single or multiple checks, set to start in a few minutes or at any time in the future, with the option of a regular daily, or weekly check at the time and dates you specify. The checks are a message asking “Are you OK?”, to prompt an Alert. When a check is set, there is also an option to include a No Response Alert that will be sent if you or another doesn’t respond, with four choices – Never, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or one hour after the check was sent.
Crews and Loops #
Setting a check on a Crew or Loop member will, at the time of the check, send a notification to them, and when they tap on that notification, they will be taken to either the Crew button, or the Loop button for the relevant Loop; when they tap or hold the button, only the Crew or the Loop will be notified of their CALM or Signal alert, depending on which button they have used.
A Note On Checks, Privacy and Security
As a matter of policy, SentLive automatically deletes Safety Checks after three months to ensure privacy and security.
Alerts #
These are the messages that get posted in The Buzz stream, and are directly notified to Crew (or Loop members if using the Loop Button) as long as they have subscribed to receiving Push Notifications; they also appear in the Inbox of each relevant connected member. If the location service has been agreed to by the sender, CALMs include a general location (such as an area in a town), but Signals include a specific location that can be an exact address if the services in that area are good enough. No Response Alerts do not include a location.
